Some say writing is an art..so i want to apologise if some posts are a little bit obscure. Anyway, an artist should always give some rooms for interpretation, right? Or perhaps it's just a style.. ;). LoLz!

New Blog!!! :D

Posted by ardianto86 at 07:32 AM on March 30, 2006.

Yeah! Finally I'm creating this brand new blog!!! hehe.. =) it's quite a funny feeling, kinda miss my old blog where i had spent 6 months writing on it, haha..but yeah, life's changing all the time, better get used to it

I think I'll post more personal stuffs and more craps here, and less of those long and complicated serious arguments. Actually I think that it's better that I argue less now, I mean it's enough, my old desire of straightening people's minds through arguments doesn't seem to work very well. Just like the old adage says, actions speaks louder than words! So let's get into the practice, and forget about all that stuffs.. anyway, me myslef, I wanna enjoy writing this new blog, haha..

And I hope this will be an exciting, brand new adventure.. =)

Currently feeling: rejuvenated

Motivation Theory - Why it didnt work on me?

Posted by ardianto86 at 08:15 AM on March 30, 2006.

This is a great way of memorizing your stuffs, just put it into blog! Then  somehow you'll learn it in the process, haha! =P

The motivation theories explained by the lecturer was quite interesting, but again, as always, I was so critical towards business modules! No surprise, I'm not a typical business student, heheh... So here are the so called theories that (according to my lecturer) might motivate employees to work:

1)Three Needs Theory : Relates to the different needs of employees, eg social needs, self actualisation needs, etc. (Certainly doesn't work for me! Isnt it written 'I shall not want'? =P)

2)Goal Setting Theory : By setting a goal, you would motivate employees to work in such a way to approach, if not meet, the goal that has been set. (Neither this works for me, I have my personal goal that I think it's hard to be similar to the organizational goal =P)

3)Reinforcement Theory : Motivation driven by outcomes, such as by using incentives given to achievements. (Nah, this is like the eye for an eye principle, it's too much of calculations...=P)

4)Designing motivating jobs : Just a way to motivate employees through job designs. (Hehe..I dont really understand this, but it seems weak either =P)

5)Equity Theory : Fairness of reverents. The theory is saying that what really motivates us is not something absolute! If supposed you're asked, would you be happy to have a monthly salary of $4000? Well, what if after you got the job, then finally you find out that another person, with exactly the same qualifications, was paid $5000? So this theory is saying that employees would get motivated as far as they feel they're treated fairly. (Well..for me, I dont really care abt what others are getting, isn't everyone unique? =P)

6)Expectancy Theory : Depends on individual expectancies of the employees. ( I've no such expectations... (-__-" )

Haha..I tell you something, if one day I become an employee, then what motivates me to work is just one thing, and let me propose my new theory : Responsibility Theory! And what does this theory says? Oops, it's a secret, coz it's not mentioned in any management books, heehee.. =D

Why do people look just on outer appearance?

Posted by ardianto86 at 06:21 PM on March 30, 2006.

It's really frustrating to know that most people just look on outer appearance, I'm not just speaking about what they see, but also what they hear, touch, smell, you name it.. This would then form a perception towards something, which is, well, most of the time, biased.. those things can actually be faked!

I still don't understand why people flock around jargons, and not reasoning.. Somehow, they find it more attractive.. not knowing that they are being cheated!

A fellowship at that 'secret facility'

Posted by ardianto86 at 06:36 AM on March 31, 2006.

This is the 1st time I visit NTU, just to attend on their PU fellowship. My first impression on NTU was, oh gosh! It really doesnt look like a university to me, but more like a factory! A power plant facility similar to that in the game 'Metal Gear Solid' I played in playstation! It was really a great place!!! ^_^ I seemed to like it. What makes it more like a 'secret facility' is that it's located in the middle of the jurong forest! Just like the scenario in Metal Gear Solid 3 if im not mistaken! Haha..and the environment around it seems so fresh! So green, so spacious, so quiet, so far from the hustle bustle and with plenty of fresh air..cool! :D

Then the fellowship finally starts..it really has a different atmosphere as compared to our usual fellowship in NUS, obviously, one factor is the number of people that counts. But not only that, everyone seems very cheerful there, really not a stressful environment, even the emcee came late by 30 minutes! but he was so funny that makes all of us laugh heartily, haha...i mean the way he shared y he was late, and e way he talked, so reminds me to the time when i was in highschool days in indonesia, (not JC, it's stressful already!) =p Moreover, when it came to sharing time, everyone was so willing to come to the front and share! And the sharing itself was not so serious and solemn, but it was brought in a rather cheerful and 'cuek' way, a thing that was lacking in NUS fellowship, perhaps in me too

However, despite all e relaxed way of conducting stuffs, the fellowship turns out to be a fruitful moment too! Gospel was not ignored, with food for thoughts that makes a good point for reflection. I really find that what the speaker said really answered my struggles. It seems that God has heard me again. Just this afternoon that I posted about my frustrations! And the speaker did mention some stuffs in :

Psalm 73:2-3:

But as for me, my feet had almost slipped, I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Actually that was not the main topic of the day, but yeah, it really answers my problem! :D what a relief! I realised I was wrong, why am I too concentrated on other people till it compromises my foothold?? I've almost fallen again Lucky the warning comes just at the right time. I'm edified...^^

Anyway, the main topic of the day is threat to Christian faith. To sum up, we discussed 2 Peter 3:1-9. And these are the 3 main threats to Christian faith: It's not violence, not attack of other religions, but rather, it's laziness, luxury and materialism.

In conclusion, it was a memorable fellowship! Though I have to go early because it's so far away from my place. Well, actually I was having this thought all along, it was kinda a weird feeling, knowing that last year, I actually had the choice to go to NTU! It's not that I was really desiring it, but this is kinda an odd feeling, you know, for I could have end up being there, used to that kind of fellowship. Well, but I don't regret choosing NUS, I believe He has a plan for me, so I think we should learn from this, bros and sis, let's create a warmer and memorable fellowship in NUS too!

Finally, it was really a great, memorable day, made some new friends too ^^ Gbutbo!
