Insights

Today I learnt something new, well.. not about a specific topic, as it can extend across many topics. You can call it an insight, or maybe, a principle? This insight was not from me, but somebody told me about it, and I think it's quite important that I will write it down here.
"What makes up a good whole bunch of strong army? Let's see.. an army is made up of navy, infantry, and air borne division. Braking up even further, infantries are then divided to occupy each states. In each state, infantries are then divided into platoons. Now, the strength of a platoon must be the litmus test, of whether we have a strong army or not. If every platoon is strong, then the army is strong."
So what's the lesson that can be learnt from this? An army is strong, if the platoons, which are the smallest divisions of the whole, are strong. Similarly, a nation / organisation is strong, if the individuals that made them up are strong. Perhaps this is rather straightforward, but there are more implications..
Let's jump to economics.. What makes a 'strong' country? It is the 'strong' citizen. And it is the reason why Singapore is a wealthy nations. It must be the responsible citizens.. And what makes a responsible citizen? It's culture.. habits..
Yeah, perhaps we can now examine, let's say we wanted to start an organization, what kind of people should we employ? First of all, we look at the habit of the person. It would show what the lifestyle of that person is.. meaning, the 'culture'. To pick up persons with good cultures, perhaps by examining how he/she finishes the 'small tasks', we can make up a good, strong organization. If many small tasks were accomplished, a big task will..
Second lesson that was learnt... don't just plan for a goal to be accomplished and 'direct ways' to accomplish it.. Always plan for maintainance of that planning itself.. so that efforts would not losen up in the middle of the journey.
Third lesson.. always ask yourself 'What could possibly go wrong?', only then learning by doing would become effective, since you'll be completely aware of your mistakes should there be mistakes..
